Hello,

This is to welcome you all to the official FST 2 blog.  It is dedicated to keeping it's members connected to each other, inspire and motivate each other. This platform is authored to bring individual perspective on topics of interest to the class and share class news.
In addition, the blog gives it's members the opportunity to get access to important information from the department as well as the assignments. It is also a collaborative undertaking that provides a better understanding of how we can relate to serve a unique family and also create an authentic audience ~ one that is willing to connect, share, challenge discuss and communicate with it's members. Let's keep it healthy and professional people.

This is to help walk you through how the blog will work.

Come with us on this amazing journey to help ensure food safety and quality and have fun while at it!

Some basics; so you are not so lost!⬱

Food Science

Food science draws from many disciplines such as biology, chemical engineering, and biochemistry in an attempt to better understand food processes and ultimately improve food products for the general public. As the stewards of the field, food scientists study the physical, microbiological, and chemical makeup of food. By applying their findings, they are responsible for developing the safe, nutritious foods and innovative packaging that line supermarket shelves everywhere.

Food Technology

The food you consume on a daily basis is the result of extensive food research, a systematic investigation into a variety of foods’ properties and compositions. After the initial stages of research and development comes the mass production of food products using principles of food technology. All of these interrelated fields contribute to the food industry – the largest manufacturing industry in the United States.
